Dr. Mohammed Faruque

Dr. Mohammed Faruque, a freedom fighter was born in 1956 at Chatkhil Upazila, Noakhali District, Bangladesh. He completed his Secondary School Certificate from Chatkhil PG High School and his Higher Secondary Certificate from Notre Dame College in Dhaka. He graduated under Dhaka University and earned his Master of Business Administrator (MBA) and PhD from Edward University (USA).

Over the past 42 years, he has grown ORCHARD Group a leading business conglomerate in Bangladesh and abroad. As the Founder and Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Faruque has played a pivotal role in driving the economic transformation of Bangladesh. His leadership and vision have led the Group to diversify into various sectors, including Expatriate Labour Recruiting & Training for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Dubai and Canada, Ready-Made Garments Manufacturing and Export to USA, Europe, Canada, Australia etc., Engineering & Construction company. His business acumen and strategic foresight have not only created jobs for thousands of people but have also contributed to the national

economy’s growth. Dr. Faruque holds several key positions within the ORCHARD Group. He is a CEO of Orchard International (Recruiting Licence No. 10), Managing Director of Orchard Sweaters Ltd. (Sweaters & Woven Garments), Chairman of Royal Aviation Services Ltd. & Gulf Aviation Ltd., as well as Managing Director of Orchard Developers & Construction Limited. Through these roles, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to lead and innovate in a highly competitive business environment.

Dr. Faruque’s influence and impact are not confined to the business world alone. He has also been an active participant in promoting Bangladesh’s interests on the global stage. As a business leader, he has travelled extensively, representing Bangladesh in numerous international forums and business delegations, working to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relationships with foreign countries. His efforts in promoting Bangladesh’s economic potential have not gone unnoticed. The Government of Bangladesh recognized his contributions by awarding him the title of Commercially Important Person (CIP) during the periods of 1990 to 1995, 2000 to 2001, and 2017 to 2019. Additionally, his excellence in leadership and service was further acknowledged when he received the Atish Diponkar Gold Medal in 1992 and a Gold Medal from Jatio Shahitta Sangsad in 1996. Beyond his business and patriotic achievements, Dr. Faruque has also played a significant role in various professional organizations. He served as the Former Senior Vice President of BAIRA (Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies) and as a Former Director of FBCCI (Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry). His leadership extended to the religious sector as well, where he was the Founding President of HAAB (Haj Agency Association of Bangladesh). Moreover, he contributed to the tourism industry as the Editor of “The Current View,” a newspaper focused on tourism. These roles underscore his versatility and his commitment to advancing multiple sectors within Bangladesh. In addition to his numerous professional and social commitments, Dr. Faruque is actively involved in charitable and community service organizations. He has been a longstanding member of Lions Club International (LCI), a global service organization, where he has held several leadership positions. Notably, he served as Council Chairman of LCI, Multiple District 315, Bangladesh, during 1998-99, and as District Governor of District 315 B3 in 1997-98. His contributions to the community also extend to his involvement in various prestigious clubs. He is a member of Kurmitola Golf Club, a Permanent Member of Gulshan Club, a Life Member of Uttara Club, a Sponsor Member of Dhanmondi Recreation Club, and a Donor Member of Banani Club. Through these affiliations, Dr. Faruque continues to foster community spirit and support charitable initiatives, further cementing his legacy as a leader dedicated to the betterment of society.
